I’m Chris Meehan.
I live in London, where I craft apps (with love and care) for both the web and mobile.
I hail from the Isle of Man, a quirky place in the middle of the Irish Sea. Growing up, I was that kid lost in the rabbit hole of continuously asking "but how does it work". This first led me into mechanical engineering, but it wasn't long before I stumbled upon coding. After using MATLAB, I was hooked. I found my calling, and just like that, I changed course to a career in tech.
After graduating with a First Class in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bath, I swiftly started a Master’s in Computer Science at the University of Bristol (I wasn't ready to say goodbye to the West Country!). My career's been a bit of a rollercoaster since then, dabbling in all kinds of tech, from retail to finance, and even doing some work for charities. I'm full stack by nature but have a penchant for front-end, spending my days hanging out in the world of React (and React Native).
Along the line, I got the itch to start my own thing. So, I co-founded Datrics, a bespoke software agency. It’s been a wild ride, working with a bunch of big clients and constantly learning on the go.
When I'm not writing code, you'll probably find me buried in a book, bouncing between fiction and non-fiction. My other big love is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, trying to progress beyond confused blue belt, which feels a lot like trying to keep up with the latest in tech – endless learning and loads of fun challenges.
In short, I'm just a guy from a tiny island, living in a big city, making sense of the tech world one line of code at a time, and trying not to get too twisted up on the mats.
